A Brief Note

My late wife, Kathryn (who studied art at Utah State University under Ev Thorpe), and I enjoyed gallery- hopping throughout the western states during our later years together. Most of our collection was picked up a piece at a time—whatever struck us—during those years.                  The Southey portfolio was obtained from a young friend, a student of artist’s at BYU. In the early 1980s Southey gave him permission to produce seven sets of his work to sell, as a personal favor to help him financially through college. I obtained one of the seven. (I think institutions took the others; I was told that one set went to the Springville Art Museum.)         For years we enjoyed showing a good deal of our art in our home, until Kathryn’s death 21 years ago. My present living quarters have limited wall space, so some of the collection is now free to be disposed of.
